Hi all! Time for the check-in! What are you reading this month? Writers, what project are you working on?
What are you loving? What are you hating? Where are you bogged down? Share in the comments!
I’ve just finished A Killing Moon and A Shadowed Sun by N. K. Jemisin. I had bought the first one in this duology for #BlackoutBestsellerLists and I was blown away. I had to get the sequel right away and I tore through it in three days.
For writing, now that the first trilogy of the Aligerai is done, I’m taking a break from Sita and her friends and working on something different. I intend to return to the world of Cora later on, but right now I’m still working on the first draft of The Memorist (still a working title).
I’m in the editing phase of my third manuscript, but boy am I uninspired as hell. Hopefully I’ll get over this hump once I’m done editing, and maybe getting back to just writing would do well for my writing psyche. Thanks for this post, and thanks for asking!
You’re welcome! I’ve definitely been in that funk before! It always seems to happen when I’m in revisions. Sadly I don’t have any wise advice for making it better. I’ve found that I just have to slog through it. Talking about the story or problem spots with my alpha or beta readers helps too. Their interest and excitement for the story helps to reinvigorate me in the editing phase. Good luck!
